MAPNA-built Combined Cycle Power Plant in Full Gear as Vice President Inaugurates Steam Portion

Taban Power Plant came into full operation on Thursday, February 2nd, in a ceremony attended by VP Eshaq Jahangiri and Minister of Power Reza Ardakanian.
 
The 484-MW combined cycle plant, constructed by MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD2), is located in Yazd Province, central Iran. Investment for the power plant was made by the private sector.
 
Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri praised MAPNA Group’s efforts during his speech, calling the conglomerate “the honor and pride of the country” and reaffirming the government’s support for MAPNA.
 
He also lauded advances in Iran’s domestic power sector, pointing to the industry’s export of technical and engineering services and its resilience.
 
Vice President also reasserted government’s commitment to environmental sustainability, including replacement of fuel oil with natural gas in power plants and developing renewable energies.
 
With an aggregate nominal capacity of 484 MWs, Taban Combined Cycle Power Plant features two gas units and one steam unit. The gas portion of the power plant was launched in March 2016 during President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Yazd Province.
 
The power plant is located 25 kilometers southeast of the city of Yazd, central Iran. Jam Energy Development Company is the client of the project.
