CEO and President of MAPNA Group Abbas Aliabadi delivered the keynote speech in the 26th conference of Iranian Society of Mechanical Engineers (ISME).

Pointing to the increasing demand for energy across the globe, Aliabadi highlighted MAPNA Group’s achievements in the power sector.

“MAPNA is a leading name in manufacture of thermal power equipment” he said, reminding the group’s competition in the global power market.

Abbas Aliabadi also announced that the company will finalize assembly of its first 300-MW F-class turbine by next month. Assembly of the advanced turbine is part of the March 2016 agreement between MAPNA Group and Siemens.

MAPNA CEO also addressed new trends in the energy market, including digitalization, distributed generation and strong efforts to curb CO2 emission.

“There are currently 150 simple cycle power plants working across Iran” Aliabadi reminded. “Digitalization and conversion of these utilities into combined cycle power plants can help curb carbon emission, while saving billions of dollars needed to construct new power plants.”

The 26th ISME conference kicked off on Tuesday, April 24, in Semnan, 180 kilometers east of the capital Tehran.

Scholars from the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada and China have attended the three-day conference hosted by the University of Semnan.

The conference agenda includes presentations, poster sessions, and key lectures by leading international and local academics as well as workshops.
