A ceremony was held to honor Abbas Aliabadi for his service as the former president of MAPNA Group and to introduce Mohammad Owliya as the new president of the conglomerate.

The event took place on Tuesday, July 19, 2023, in the conference hall of the National Defense Museum. It was attended by members of the board of directors, deputy CEOs, senior and middle managers of MAPNA Group and a group of managers from public and private sectors.

Aliabadi, who is now the Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, said that he will try to remove the obstacles for large and innovative companies. He vowed that during his tenure, the ministry will never compete with domestic companies.

He stressed that the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade would support companies that export products and services. “We will definitely remove the existing obstacles for large and innovative companies, especially export-oriented domestic companies that can compete with renowned companies in the world in producing quality products,” he said.

Stressing the ministry’s commitment to the environment, Aliabadi said, “Preventing sale of crude resources is one of the other important issues and we support companies that prevent crude sales because manufacturing will have a much higher value.”

 Products should be bought from a country that can buy Iranian products as well, he said, adding, “If we can implement this strategy, then we can take a big step and a huge transformation in the country’s economy.”

In another part of the ceremony, Mohammad Owliya thanked Aliabadi for his efforts in this group and wished him success as the new minister of industry.

“MAPNA’s name evokes sustainable development, transformation, innovation and value creation for long-term success,” he said.

Pointing to 30 years of activity of the conglomerate, the new president said MAPNA Group has become a symbol of success for the country. Describing MAPNA Group as a “pool of thoughtful innovators”, Owliya said thanks to the hard work of colleagues and Aliabadi in the past 14 years, great visions of the conglomerate have come true.
