The 22nd edition of International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition ended in Tehran on Tuesday, May 09.

One of the largest energy events in the Middle East, the international oil & gas expo hosted exhibitors from 2500 domestic enterprises and 1500 international companies from 37 countries this year.

The exhibition is a platform for MAPNA Group to display its technological, management and financial capacities in the oil & gas sector. Several negotiations with international and domestic companies were held during the 4-day event.

The company’s oil & gas division has been engaged in several projects in both upstream and downstream sectors. MAPNA was qualified as an E&P (exploration & production) company in July 2016, after a much-awaited vetting process carried out by Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum.

The qualification paves the way for selected companies’ partnership with high-profile international conglomerates to develop Iran’s massive oil & gas fields under Iran Petroleum Contracts (IPCs), newly developed contracts aimed to encourage foreign investment in Iran’s massive oil & gas fields.

“The oil & gas expo is important for MAPNA, especially after our qualification as an E&P company” said Nasser Marashi, Oil & Gas Division Commercial Deputy, in an interview with MAPNA Media Department. “We are in negotiations for development of a number of energy fields and the expo is a platform for us to choose our international and domestic partners.”

MoU with National Iranian Oil Company

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between MAPNA Group and the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) on the sidelines of the last day of the exhibition. The MoU assigns MAPNA Group with development studies for Mansouri and Ab-Teymour, oil fields located in Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran, during a sixth-month span in order to enhance oil recovery.

The memorandum was signed by MAPNA Group President Abbas Aliabadi and Gholam-Reza Manouchehri, Deputy Head of the National Iranian Oil Company for Engineering and Development Affairs on behalf of NIOC.

Aliabadi expressed gratitude to the National Iranian Oil Company for fostering competition in the upstream sector, while pointing to MAPNA Group’s history in the oil & gas business, particularly in the massive gas field of South Pars which Iran shares with neighbor Qatar. “MAPNA is now not merely a general contractor, or EPC (execution, procurement, and construction) contractor in power, oil & gas and rail businesses. We now offer total solutions for projects” he said.
