Tehran City Council Chairman Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani took a half-day tour of MAPNA Group factories on Thursday.

Hashemi paid a visit to MAPNA Group facilities on the outskirts of Tehran on April 26, 2018, to become acquainted with the company’s capabilities and ongoing projects.

Tehran City Council Chairman was received by MAPNA Group CEO Abbas Aliabadi.

The tour started from MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company, where Hashemi was acquainted with the industrial conglomerate’s capabilities in manufacturing, project execution, and investment.

MAPNA CEO Aliabadi also briefed Mohsen Hashemi on the trajectory of MAPNA Group’s business development, particularly the foundation of MAPNA Group’s rail division, which is involved in manufacturing of various types of rail equipment, including passenger, cargo, and tunnel locomotives, and execution of rail projects. “MAPNA is ready to fulfill Tehran’s increasing rail transportation demands in subway and tram sections” Aliabadi stressed.

Tehran City Council Chairman, who was accompanied by managing director of Tehran Urban and Suburban Railway Operation Company Ali Emam, also took a tour of MAPNA Electric & Control Engineering & Manufacturing Company (MECO) on the second leg of his visit.

Hashemi expressed satisfaction with MAPNA Group’s rail and energy activities at the end of the visit. Power supply, procurement of equipment, and waste-to-energy systems are some of the areas where MAPNA and Tehran City Council can collaborate, according to Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Chairman of Tehran City Council hoped long-term agreements can be signed between MAPNA and Tehran Municipality after election of the capital’s new mayor.

Addressing serious challenges ahead of Tehran, including waste treatment, MAPNA CEO Abbas Aliabadi announced MAPNA Group’s readiness to offer solutions in the waste-to-energy industry.

Aliabadi pointed to two other key challenges, traffic congestion and environment pollution as areas in which MAPNA can offer efficient solutions through electrification of transportation systems and installation of light rail and tram systems.

Reminding that Iran boasts a high power generation capacity, MAPNA CEO named energy saving systems (ESS) as one solution to manage power consumption and save the investment budget allocated to construction of new power plants. “This is a significant shift which can generate considerable revenue for the country” Aliabadi said.

MAPNA Group is currently involved in several metro projects in Tehran, including development of Tehran Metro lines 3 and 6.
